Lizzo, Lady Gaga, and Other Celebrities Make Way for Black Activists

What do Lizzo and Lady Gaga have in common? Aside from the fact that they’re both chart-killing pop stars, the two women are ardent activists who will be lending their Instagram accounts to Black activist groups.

The ideology behind sharing their Instagrams with Black leaders is simple; given that both ladies have millions of followers, their social accounts are the perfect platforms for sending positive, anti-racist messages to an international audience. In stepping aside and handing the mic to BLM activists, there is great potential for Lizzo and Gaga to help affect change.

These two beloved pop divas aren’t the only musicians on-board with this plan. Selena Gomez and Shaun Mendes have also vowed to hand their Instagrams over the African American activists and charities. While Lizzo lent her Instagram to Black Visions Collective and Gaga to a myriad of charities, Gomez and Mendes approached the take-over in a slightly different manner. Mendes will be lending his Instagram to different young Black changemakers every day. Gomez has lent her’s to the incomparable Alicia Garza, who is a co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Do your part in boosting these activists’ platforms by following Lizzo, Gaga, Mendes, and Gomez on Instagram.
