Yvonne Orji From ‘Insecure’ Has Been Nominated for Her Very First Emmy Award
Insecure star Yvonne Orji received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
This is Orji’s first Emmy nomination and she is elated. Watch the video below of her sharing the great news with her parents over FaceTime.
The Insecure cast is celebrating not only Orji but the TV show itself along with star Issa Rae who plays Issa Dee. The show was nominated for Best Comedy and Rae was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy.
Orji is honored to be a part of the Emmy’s this year, not only for herself but for the whole cast as well. While the Emmy’s will be held virtually this year, Orji still plans to get dressed up and take pictures. This is not how she ever expected to experience her first Emmy red carpet, but she is still beyond thrilled about the nominations.
The Nigerian-American actress received a master’s degree in public health from George Washington University. While her parents assumed she would find a career in the medical field, she fell in love with comedy after performing stand-up in a beauty pageant. She followed her dreams to New York and it didn’t take long for her to land a starring role as Molly Carter in Insecure.
The comedy/drama has four seasons available on HBO. Start or catch up on the latest episodes of an Emmy nominated production now.
Hi! I am Hannah Forton pursuing a double major in Communications and Music Industry. I love traveling, sports, cooking, music, Broadway, movies, DIY, make-up, clothes, and tutorials. Some of my favorite work experiences includes an internship at a recording studio and working at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Helping and educating others is important to me, and I’ve enjoyed being able to do so through volunteering for numerous non-profits since middle school. I like the big city vibes, but small towns will always hold a special place in my heart. Living near Detroit allows me to achieve the best of both worlds.
