Merchandise for Taylor Swift’s newest album, Folklore, is put under fire as a Black-owned business claims Swift stole their logo.

The release of Taylor Swift’s surprise album, Folklore, left fans in awe. The album instantly became a hit and became the perfect soundtrack for those dealing with a bad breakup. However, merchandise for Folklore wasn’t so popular after one Black-owned business accused Swift of stealing their logo.

Founder of The Folklore, Amira Rasool, took to Instagram to blast Swift and accuse her of being a thief. Rasool’s brand, The Folklore, is a retail company “delivering Africa &  the diaspora’s top contemporary designer brands,” (as stated on their Instagram.)

The caption on Rasool’s post states, “Based on the similarities of the design, I believe the designer of the merch ripped off my company’s logo. I am sharing my story to bring light to the trend of large companies/celebrities copying the work of small minority-owned business owners.”

Since the incident, Swift’s brand has decided to drop the use of the word “the” before Folklore on their merchandise. The “Love Story” singer even tweeted back at Rasool after her team started working to make the situation right.

Swift will be making a contribution to Rasool’s company, along with giving a donation towards the Black in Fashion Council.

According to InStyle, Rasool’s lawyer was in contact with Swift’s manager regarding the merchandise and claims they took “swift action” when it came to fixing the problem

Rasool later tweeted, “I recognize that she has been a strong advocate for women protecting their creative rights, so it was good to see her team is on the same page.”

Sending a huge shoutout to Taylor Swift and her team for supporting Black-owned businesses and being proactive to do what’s just.
