Skai Jackson Performs to ‘Almost There’ on Disney Night of ‘Dancing With the Stars‘

Coming off of a shocking slip-up in week two, Skai Jackson recovered in her week three performance on Dancing With the Stars.

This week was Disney Week, which gave Jackson added pressure since she is the Disney legacy this season. Past Disney alumni include Zendaya, Jordan Fisher, and Corbin Bleu. Two of those stars were runners up while Fisher took first place. This leaves large shoes to fill. On top of that, Jackson is the youngest competitor this season which is both a strength and a weakness.

In the first week, she came out as one of the most promising dancers with one of the highest scores, which quickly set her apart as a competitor.

However, she missed a trick in the second week which caused her scores to drop as she struggled to recover in the rest of the performance. This is why age can be a drawback, the more experience you have in a live performance, the better you can handle grace under pressure.

The actress took this mistake seriously as we witnessed her emotions in a behind-the-scenes video after her performance, however, she was able to laugh it off afterward.

For her comeback dance this week, she performed with her partner Alan Bersten to the song “Almost There” from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog. She danced a jive and while she showed off her long legs in those kicks and flicks, her technique only manages straight sixes from the judges.

She was deemed safe before eliminations but is unfortunately still at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Jackson will have to step up to the plate next week to get back to the top, which is possible because she already pulled off a stunning performance in the first week. Watch Dancing with the Stars Mondays at 8 PM EST on ABC.
