Singer-songwriter Sia is officially making waves in the world of film with her feature directorial debut, Music.

Sia has teamed up with Academy Award nominee Kate Hudson and Emmy nominee Leslie Odom Jr. for her first film that includes her frequent collaborator, Maddie Ziegler.

Music centers on Zu (Hudson), a newly sober drug dealer that unexpectedly gains custody of her special-needs half-sister, Music (Ziegler). Struggling with the new transition, Zu seeks assistance from her neighbor Ebo (Odom Jr.), who soon changes her outlook on things.

The film comes equipped with an original movie soundtrack from Sia herself titled  Music – Songs From and Inspired By the Motion Picture. To give fans a taste of what’s to come, the singer released her song “Hey Boy” after the trailer premiered.

The soundtrack will feature 10 new songs all performed by Music‘s cast. One of the songs, “Together,” was released back on May 20 along with a video starring Ziegler. The cheery song helped many during the hard times of the pandemic, so fans are excited to hear what else Sia has in store. She has also released the song “Courage to Change,” which will also be featured in the film.

Music will also feature appearances by Juliette Lewis, Ben Schwartz, Hector Elizondo, Tig Notaro, and Mary Kay Place. Sia helped pen the screenplay along with Dallas Clayton.

The film is scheduled to premiere in select IMAX theaters in February of 2021, with the companion album launching on February 12.

You can listen to Sia’s newest release, “Hey Boy” on Spotify and Apple Music. We can’t wait to see the singer’s film debut and are eagerly awaiting her next album.
