AG8 is officially here, as Ariana Grande has announced her upcoming eighth studio album, Petal. The album consists of 12 tracks and will be released under Babydoll Music, Grande’s new label under Republic Records, and is set to drop on July 31.

In an Instagram post, the singer shared a black-and-white photo of the album’s cover — Grande smiling, with the wind blowing through her hair — captioned “petal 7.31.”

Co-written with ILYA, the “we can’t be friends” singer mentioned that this album is “something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.”

Petal is her first musical project since eternal sunshine (2024) and eternal sunshine (deluxe): brighter days ahead (2025). At the time, fans were unsure of when her next musical endeavor would arrive, as she was balancing Wicked: For Good and her upcoming film Focker-In-Law.

In 2024, she appeared on the Las Culturistas podcast, where she questioned the lifestyle of a pop star, stating, “I’m always going to make music… I’m always going to do pop stuff… but I don’t think doing it at the rate that I’ve been doing for the past 10 years is where I see the next 10 years.”

A year later, while on Good Hang with Amy Poehler, she called her upcoming “eternal sunshine” tour “one last hurrah.”

“I don’t want to say any definitive things. I do know that I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time… I think that’s why I’m doing it, because I’m like, ‘One last hurrah.’ For now,” she explained.

AG8 Hints

However, fans became suspicious as Grande began dropping hints about an upcoming album. In March, while posting about r.e.m. beauty, she joked about having “8 glossy balms,” quickly realizing how fans would interpret the number eight in reference to “AG8.”

From then on, she continued dropping more hints, including photos from the recording studio.

The night before the album’s announcement, her “brighter days ahead” hotline would ring eight beeps before powering down. This came weeks after the voicemail box was updated with the message, “you’re due for a check-up before June… we are counting down the 8’s—I mean the days.”

The wait is finally over. Ariana Grande’s new album Petal drops July 31. You can pre-save the album here.
