HBO is no stranger to well-made documentaries, having released several well-received and award-winning documentary films and series in the past few decades. One of their latest is Tina, a film that will give fans of Turner a deeper look into her eventful life.

Also known as the “Queen of Rock and Roll,” Turner has had a remarkable career that has spanned over four decades, earning her several chart-topping singles and albums and eight Grammys. This year, she’s even nominated for an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Despite her success, Turner has faced many obstacles throughout her life, which she will touch on in the new film. One major rough patch was her infamous turbulent relationship with her late ex-husband Ike Turner, which was highlighted in the 1993 film What’s Love Got to Do with It.

The award-winning singer also didn’t have an easy upbringing, and she was raised by her grandmother after her mother left home when Turner was young. “I wanted her to come for me, and I waited. She never did,” Turner says in the trailer.

Although things weren’t always easy for Turner, she used those hardships to fuel her to be better. “I’m a girl from a cotton field that put myself above the destruction and the mistakes,” she says.

Fans are excited for the documentary, which many feel is long overdue. In spite of her fame, Turner is typically private about her personal life, so fans feel lucky to have the chance to get a closer look.

Be sure to check out the trailer for Tina, which will be released on HBO Max on March 27, and cast a vote by April 30 to include Turner in the list of this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees.
