Michael B. Jordan will be starring in and directing the third movie of the boxing franchise titled Creed III, set to be released on Thanksgiving 2022.

Michael B. Jordan will be tackling two roles this time around in the famous boxing franchise: acting and directing. Michael B. Jordan will be reprising his role as Adonis Creed, son of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad are also set to return to the franchise. Thompson plays Bianca, who is Adonis’ love interest. Rashad plays Mary Anne Creed, the widow of Apollo and Adonis’ mother. Creed III is written by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin, based on an outline by Ryan Coogler.

Michael B. Jordan expressed in a statement with MGM Studios, “Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right. Creed III is that moment.” Michael B. Jordan continued, “This franchise and in particular, the themes of Creed III are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake.”

Fans of Michael B. Jordan have marveled at his commitment to the role of Adonis Creed. This franchise has a long history dating back to Sylvester Stallone’s days as Rocky Balboa. Rocky and Apollo (Adonis’ father) were rivals in the boxing ring and did eventually become friends before Apollo’s tragic death in Rocky IV (1985) where he is killed by Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) in the ring. Stallone’s character Rocky serves as a mentor to Jordan’s character throughout the Creed films.

Fans have offered encouraging words of support for Michael B. Jordan stepping into this new role.

Creed III will definitely be a knockout like the previous two installments. This highly anticipated film will be released on November 23, 2022. In the meantime, you can keep up with Michael B. Jordan on Twitter.
