Miley Cyrus shared a heartfelt letter addressed to her alter ego, Hannah Montana, 15 years after the show first premiered on Disney Channel. The 28-year-old singer and actress reflected on her years growing up while playing the character, Hannah.

Miley Cyrus wrote in the letter, “It’s been a while. 15 years to be exact. Since the first time I slid those blonde bangs over my forehead in the best attempt to conceal my identity.” The blonde wig had become a trademark of the role she played in Hannah Montana.

She wrote about some touching moments from the show. Like, how she had to sing “I Love Rock N Roll” as a young child in front of a white wall for her Hannah Montana audition. Cast members like Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, and Jason Earles became a family to Cyrus during the years they filmed together. Cyrus also describes driving her new Prius to set every day with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who was also a main part of the show.

While it was mostly heartfelt, Cyrus also described some of the hardships she endured. The star shared her emotions when her grandfather, Pappy, passed away during the filming of the first season. Cyrus ends the letter with a thank you to the Disney Channel team, her friends and family, and many more who were on the show.

The newly made Hannah Montana account on Twitter quoted Cyrus’ letter post with “Nice to hear from you @MileyCyrus. It’s only been a decade.” Hannah Montana last aired on television on January 16, 2011.
