Dominique Fishback Looks Flawless in Georges Hobeika at the BAFTAs
Judas and the Black Messiah star Dominique Fishback stunned in a swirling Georges Hobeika dress. Although the dress had been black, the swirling paint that covers the dress is very colorful, proving to be one of the most dramatic looks of the night. The Hobeika dress had been a part of the 2020 Fall Couture Show, which had a message of empowerment and sensuality. Fishback certainly gets this message, as she delivers an amazing look.
Dominique Fishback had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Deborah Johnson in the critically acclaimed Judas and the Black Messiah. Fishback had been nominated alongside Niamh Algar (Calm With Horses), Kosar Ali (Rocks), Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm), Ashley Madekwe (County Lines), and Yuh-Jung Youn (Minari). Youn came away with the award, but Fishback still expressed her gratitude at just being nominated.

Fishback posted a series of snapshots of the eventful day on Instagram. She gave a shoutout to Georges Hobieka for the stunning dress. In addition, she thanked Madison Guest for styling, Jerica Edwards for her up-do, and Danielle Mitchell for the makeup. Mitchell shared a breathtaking video clip of Fishback smiling. Mitchell writes, “It’s the skin for me!”
In a lengthy Instagram post, Fishback credits her roots in Brooklyn and East New York for helping her get to where she is today. She also thanks God for helping her accomplish all her dreams. In the poignant post, she writes, “East New York- Brooklyn and Brownsville know. Brooklyn gave me everything while still taxing my soul. Witness things that will never get old. The body keeps score.” She writes about God, “God is good for real y’all. He is glorious and abundant ….to say the least. He wants every single one of us to accomplish our divine dreams. Even if it ain’t always how it seems.” She wants to continue to grow as both an actress and a person.
Although Fishback did not win the BAFTA, she was honored to be included with such talented women. Her fashion look most definitely won the night. Be sure to stream Judas and the Black Messiah on Amazon Prime.
