Singer and actor Darren Criss has announced that he will be adding another single to his series of character-driven singles. The single titled, “I Can’t Dance” is a mix of new wave and disco that explores the many different dimensions in a person, which drops on May 21.

Criss announced the new single on Instagram and Twitter where he said, “Half masc, half fem, half bad bitch, half brazen baller… This song is an ode to both those we love to hate and those we hate to love. What can I say, I live for dualities.”

The announcement of the single has received great feedback from friends, fans and critics alike. Fellow actor and singer Jordan Fisher commented on Criss’ Instagram post with, “God I love you”.

Besides the new era and unique sound, many fans are impressed with the overall aesthetic of this era. Criss steps away from the one-dimensional image of his past eras and utilizes the album’s artwork to emphasize this change.

The promotional artwork features colorful, jagged pieces coming together to reveal the official single cover. This also demonstrates the many different characters coming together to complete this series.

“I Can’t Dance” is the second single released out of the entire series, the number of which has not been announced yet.

The first single, “F*ckn Around”, was released on April 9 which was performed on The Late Late Show with James Corden. It featured a much different sound than this new single but the aesthetic seems similar.

“I Can’t Dance” drops on May 21 and will be available on all streaming platforms.
