Here Comes The Sun: Lorde Announces New Studio Album and World Tour

The summer solstice has begun, and just as Lorde hinted to fans, her third studio album Solar Power has been revealed along with a 2022 world tour.

The summer solstice has begun, and just as Lorde hinted to fans, her third studio album Solar Power has been revealed along with a 2022 world tour.

The album will drop on August 20 of this year, with the Solar Power tour kicking off in Upper Moutere, New Zealand late February 2022. The presale will begin June 24 at 10 am local time for fans that are subscribed to her emails and June 25 to the general public.

Downsizing from the venues from her 2018 Melodrama world tour— which included notable arenas like the Staples Center and Barclays Center— the artist stated in a message to fans she wished to cultivate something more “intimate” with a theatre setting.

The singer also dropped an eco-friendly merchandise line to match the environmental theme of this recent comeback. Her website notes the substantial price difference compared to her usual merchandise listings and clarifies it is due to the ethical sourcing of the material.

Multiple sets of physical copies of Solar Power were also included in this drop, such as a signed vinyl and a limited edition blue press of the LP, which sold out within minutes.

Additionally, the “CD” will not be a “CD” at all but an eco-consciousness alternative referred to as a “Music Box.” It was designed to minimize each album’s carbon footprint and include a download of the album along with two bonus tracks plus unique extras.
