It’s official, Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage will be released two weeks earlier than its original air date. Instead of releasing on October 15, 2021, the movie will be released on October 1. This isn’t the first time that the Venom 2 release date has been changed. The sequel was supposed to hit theaters last year but was pushed back a year due to COVID-19 then was pushed forward to September.

Since Shang-Chi’s box office performance was record-shattering, Venom 2 was moved to be released the first week of October. Shang-Chi earned over $75.5 million over the weekend and a whopping $90 million during the four-day weekend.

The first Venom movie was released in October of 2018. The film received critical acclaim and some negative reviews but became the highest-grossing film in October. Venom broke that record, earning $850 worldwide. Joker shattered the record a year later.

Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams will be returning as Eddie Brock and Anne Weying. New characters will be introduced, such as Woody Harrelson playing Cletus Kasaday, and Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison, who is also known as Shriek. Andy Serkis will serve as director and Kelly Marcel as the scriptwriter.

“She’s a damaged soul and she really has suffered in her childhood, but there is a real vulnerability about her, and she’s in a lot of pain She’s been living in isolation for years, years, and years,” Serkis described Shriek in an interview. “She’s dangerous too and I think she has her own sense of fairness and being just, and I think when that line is crossed, then you see a very, very dangerous, dark side to her, and that’s what we wanted to do with the character.”

Venom: Let There Be Carnage comes to theaters on October 1, 2021.
