English-Irish boy-band The Wanted have announced via Twitter that they will reunite on stage after a seven-year break. The group will also release a greatest hits album, including some new music too. Band member Tom Parker, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, has teamed up with charity organization Stand Up to Cancer to present a live show from London’s Royal Albert Hall where the five-piece will make their return to the stage.

After rising to US fame in 2012 with their hit single “Glad You Came,” the band went on to release chart-toppers “Chasing the Sun” and “I Found You” before entering into a TV show venture with E!, starring in their own reality series The Wanted Life. The group also sparked conversation when they began a Twitter “feud” with fellow European boy-band, One Direction.

However, bandmates Max George, Siva KaneswaranJay McGuinessTom Parker, and Nathan Sykes parted ways in 2014 to pursue solo projects. Since then fans have had to leave much to the imagination, until early Wednesday morning when news broke of the upcoming concert.

The show is set to take place on September 20 and will feature performances by fellow musicians Liam Payne, Becky G, McFly, KSI, and Sigrid. It has been dubbed “Tom Parker’s Inside My Head,” and proceeds will be donated equally to both Stand Up To Cancer and The National Brain Appeal. Highlights from the gig will also be shown in Tom’s Channel 4 documentary.

More than anything, the band-mates say that this event is a beacon of hope and meant to be a positive and uplifting time for all. After being apart for all these years, the boys can hardly wait to rock out together again. Jay McGuiness added that the whole affair “is all about having fun with our mates, no pressure, just fun.”

Following the concert, their greatest hits album will be released November 12, including favorites like “Glad You Came” and “We Own the Night,” as well as some brand new tracks. This will be the first time any new music will have been heard since the initial split in 2014, and will also commemorate the band’s tenth anniversary.

Updates can be followed via the band’s Twitter.
