Step Into Your Favorite Movies With Derek and Julianne Hough in New Pre-Oscar Special
Get ready to step into your favorite films with ABC’s new Pre-Oscar special, Step Into…The Movies with Derek and Julianne Hough. The special led by Emmy-award-winning choreographers Derek and Julianne Hough will premiere on March 20, a week before the 94 annual Oscars.
Step Into…The Movies will feature some of the most beloved dance films, including Dirty Dancing, Saturday Night Fever, Singin’ In The Rain, Moulin Rouge, Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, and La La Land. The program will explore these films with a modern twist.
In early February, the sibling duo announced the special and teased some “special guests,” leaving fans on the edge of their seats waiting for the announcement. Well, it’s safe to say it was worth the wait as ABC recently announced the star-studded cast. Derek Hough will reunite with his season 17 Dancing With the Stars partner and mirrorball champion Amber Riley.
In addition to Riley, viewers can expect to see Ariana Debose, Harry Shum Jr., John Stamos, Kenny Ortega, Jenna Dewan, Kevin Bacon, Tate McRae, Charli D’Amelio, Rob Marshall, and Baz Luhrmann.
Not only are the Houghs choreographing and performing in this special, but they also serve as executive producers. In an interview with Deadline, Rob Mills, Executive Vice President of Unscripted and Alternative Entertainment for Walt Disney Television, stated, “There is no one better than Derek and Julianne to revisit iconic movie moments through music and dance.” Mills continued, “Their talent is insurmountable and will entertain audiences at home through their captivating visual performances. And the celebrity guests and surprises they have in store are sure to make it an unforgettable night.”
Step Into…The Movies with Derek and Julianne Hough premieres on March 20 at 10/9c on ABC and the next day on Hulu.
