Angel Olsen Announces New Album Big Time
Angel Olsen has new music on the way. The “Chance” singer shared the first single and accompanying music video of Big Time on March 29.
Angel Olsen released “All the Good Times,” the lead single of her forthcoming sixth studio album, Big Time, out June 3 via Jagjaguwar Records. Big Time is an emotional record for the singer, coming at a time in her life when she was in the process of understanding her queerness while simultaneously experiencing a profound sense of loss.
In a press release discussing Olsen’s coming out to her parents, she states, “Some experiences just make you feel as though you’re 5 years old, no matter how wise or adult you think you are. Finally, at the ripe age of 34, I was free to be me.” In a heartbreaking turn of events, both of her parents died just before she began recording the album. Shortly after coming out, Olsen’s father passed, and she introduced her partner to her family for the first time at his funeral. Just two weeks later, Olsen would lose another parent. A few weeks after the second funeral, Olsen went into the studio to make Big Time with Jonathan Wilson.
Olsen took to Instagram to share more details about the album, first uploading the stunning cover art. She reveals, “I am thrilled with the way this record sounds and feels. I really felt loved and supported by the people who shared the Big Time record-making experience with me. I hope you can share it with someone special too…”

Olsen’s friend and collaborator, Kimberly Stuckwisch, directed the “All the Good Times” music video. She stated, “Angel’s story is a gift. It allowed me to visually explore the universal themes of love, loss, and most importantly what holds us back from realizing our true selves.” Stuckwisch previously worked with Olsen on the Sharon Van Etten duet “Like I Used To.”
After the new single and video, Olsen also announced the Big Time European tour. Her The Wild Hearts tour with Julien Baker, Sharon Van Etten, and Spencer starts this summer on July 21. Be sure to catch one of her shows.
