When talking about the inspiration for Finestkind, Helgeland stated , “I come from a long line of commercial fishermen and have experienced their hard-working world firsthand. Through the help of our partners at 101 Studios, Paramount+, and Bosque Ranch, we will be able to accurately capture their endeavors at sea and honor them for their immense contribution to society. I feel privileged for the opportunity to tell this story to audiences globally.”

Finestkind focuses on the life of two brothers who were separated when they were kids and fate reunites them once they become adults over one special summer. Due to a series of events, they strike a deal with a Boston mob. Somehow, a young woman (Ortega) gets mixed up in this sticky situation. Relationships are put to the test in this complex situation and sacrifices are made.
Filming for Finestkind is expected to start sometime soon and premier later in the year.
