Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun Announce New Engagement

Avril Lavigne has found her happy ending. The “Sk8er Boi” singer is engaged to Derek Ryan Smith, known professionally as Mod Sun.

Congratulations are in order for Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun. The Pop-Punk Princess and her fellow musician partner are newly engaged. Mod Sun was the first to post the incredible news, sharing stunning photographs of their Paris getaway. He got down on one knee in front of the Eiffel Tower, gifting Lavigne a gorgeous heart-shaped diamond ring.

Mod Sun beautifully writes:

Lavigne still had Paris on her mind, writing in French, “Oui! Je t’aime pour toujours. Dimanche. 27. Mars. 2022,” which translates to “Yes! I love you forever. Sunday, March 27, 2022.”

The “Complicated” singer’s exciting engagement news is the cherry on top of this incredible year she is having musically. She released her seventh studio album, Love Sux, on February 25. Love Sux is reminiscent of the singer’s early days.

She returned to her roots, revealing to Billboard, “I went into this album and just said, ‘I want to make a pop-punk record, a rock-and-roll record. I don’t want to be on the piano. I don’t want ballads, really. I just really want to rock out.’”
