In Oprah + Viola: A Netflix Special Event, Oprah Winfrey will interview actress Viola Davis on a number of topics, including her upcoming memoir Finding Me. The interview will hit the streaming platform on April 22, four days prior to the release of Davis’ book. From the porch of Winfrey’s home in Maui, the entertainment legends will discuss everything from childhood trauma to healing journeys to manifesting happiness.

When Oprah Daily exclusively revealed the cover of Finding Me last year, the Academy Award-winning actress opened up about writing her first memoir. “Sharing my story is incredibly frightening but liberating,” Davis revealed. “More importantly, it’s my way of helping people feel less alone in a world that is so isolating. It’s part of the building block of my legacy.”

During the Netflix special, Davis will talk about the horrific abuse she experienced as a child. She will also discuss how she’s had to “give up hope that the past could be different” in order to heal. In addition, the author will explain how she used manifestation to achieve happiness in life.

Davis’ unwavering drive and determination helped her reach the top despite her impoverished upbringing. In 2017, she became the first Black individual to achieve the triple crown of acting. At the time, only 22 other performers had accomplished the feat of winning an Oscar, Emmy, and Tony. Her three additional Oscar nominations have made her the most nominated woman of color of all time. She has also earned a second Tony and multiple SAG awards.

The 56-year-old actress’ accolades are unlikely to stop there. On April 17, Davis will be taking her talents to the (hypothetical) White House. In the highly-anticipated Showtime series The First Lady, the star will take on her biggest role yet — former first lady Michelle Obama. The drama will provide a look into American leadership through the lens of several presidents’ wives, including Betty Ford (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Eleanor Roosevelt (Gillian Anderson).
