The live adaption will follow the adventures of a 12-year-old Percy Jackson (Scobell). Jackson is a brave and compassionate adolescent boy who feels like an outsider in his world as he struggles with ADHD and dyslexia.
However, Jackson’s life quickly changes as he finds out he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon. After being accused of stealing Zeus’ lightning bolt, Jackson embarks on an adventure in search of it to prove his innocence and save Mount Olympus.
The pilot episode for the series is written by Riordan (Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters) and Jon Steinberg (The Rookie), with James Bobin (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) directing it. Bobbin, Steinberg, and Riordan will also serve as executive producers for the series alongside Dan Shotz, Rebecca Riordan, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, and Jim Rowe.
While the remake will stream exclusively on Disney+, 20th Television will be the production studio in charge of making the live adaption.
