Rina Sawayama Releases New Single from Her Upcoming Album Hold The Girl
Rina Sawayama has released the third single off her forthcoming studio album, Hold The Girl. The latest single is the title track of the record.
“Hold The Girl” was the track that began Sawayama’s new era. The “Chosen Family” singer sat down with Amfo on the BBC Radio 1 show, Future Sounds. The singer stated, “‘Hold The Girl’ was the first song I wrote for the record at the end of 2020. I had gone to therapy and had a revelation, so I decided to write this song… that was the start of [the writing process for the album]. I was crying before going into the studio to write about it.”
“Hold The Girl” comes after Sawayama’s previous singles, “This H*ll” and “Catch Me In The Air,” which are both on her new album. The singer announced a string of North America tour dates for the month of November. Sawayama will begin her tour in Brooklyn and end in Los Angeles.
Hold the Girl will consist of 13 songs. Here is the tracklist:
1 “Minor Feelings”
2 “Hold The Girl”
3 “This Hell”
4 “Catch Me In The Air”
5 “Forgiveness”
6 “Holy (Til You Let Me Go)”
7 “Your Age”
8 “Imagining”
9 “Frankenstein”
10 “Hurricanes”
11 “Send My Love To John”
12 “Phantom”
13 “To Be Alive”
Rina Sawayama’s sophomore effort, Hold the Girl, will release on September 16. The record was slated for a September 2 release but unfortunately had to be moved. She cites “production issues” for the delay. Despite the hiccup, we cannot be more excited to hear more music from this talented superstar. Fans can stream the latest single on all major music platforms.
