On May 5, Taylor Swift announced that her next re-recorded album will be Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), out July 7.

Swift still knows how to make the whole place shimmer. While embarking on the hugely successful Eras Tour, she stopped in Nashville to play at their Nissan Stadium. On the first night, she dropped the news amidst her three-hour setlist.

Attendees and non-attendees enjoyed the announcement, as the Taylor Nation Instagram account live-streamed the news. The singer/songwriter began by teasing the information, “I think rather than me speaking about it, I thought I would show you.” Then, she redirected everyone, “So if you would direct your attention to the big screens.” And there for everyone to behold was the new album cover and release date.

Following this, the “Enchanted” performer took to her social media to make a statement. On Twitter, she posted two photos, the first was the album cover, and the second was a letter to her fans. In her letter, she wrote, “ always looked at this album as my album, and the lump in my throat expands to a quivering voice as I say this. Thanks to you, dear reader, it finally will be. I consider this music to be, along with your faith in me, the best thing that’s ever been mine.”

Swifties quickly ran to Twitter to share their excitement.

Released nearly a decade-and-a-half ago, Speak Now (2010) was the artist’s third album. It was an entirely self-written concept album about the various things Swift never got the chance to tell people she met. The album tackled aspects of growing into adulthood, including love, heartbreak, regret, anger, and moving on. Critically acclaimed, she earned two Grammy Awards from it.

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is part of Swift’s mission to own the master recording of her first six studio albums. In 2021, she released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) to critical and commercial success. Her work for the latter even got her another Grammy for Best Music Video.

Given how Swift has turned the re-recorded albums into huge musical celebrations, we can not wait for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). We can not wait to hear her new vocals on fan-favorite songs such as “Sparks Fly,” “Dear John,” “Haunted,” and “Last Kiss.” And what will come out of the vault has us super excited.
