Prince Harry Fights for Privacy in Lawsuit

Prince Harry goes to court against British news outlets, setting off a media whirlwind and causing tension within the Royal Family.

The couple has received massive media attention after the release of the Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan. In their documentary, Harry and Meghan addressed controversies and hardships while balancing their private and public lives. Among the difficulties that they battled were racial discrimination against Meghan and overzealous news outlets.

Prince Harry’s break from the Royal Family led to tension between many members, including Harry and William. In his memoir Spare, Harry even refers to his brother as an enemy: “In some ways, he was my mirror, in some ways he was my opposite,” Harry stated. “My beloved brother, my arch nemesis, how had that happened?”

Prince Harry’s case is a lawsuit against Mirror Group Newspapers, a British publisher. Among his claims, the Duke of Sussex has put forth that journalists have hacked his phone to receive private information regarding his life and whereabouts. Overall, the focus of Harry’s concerns seems to be a lack of privacy and protection from journalists seeking to exploit him and his family. He maintains that unlawful, invasive attempts have been made to gather information about and against him.

Harry was absent for his first court date, an event that sparked frustration in the courtroom. He was allegedly unavailable due to his presence in California for his daughter’s 2nd birthday.

One of the biggest bombshells in Harry’s court case seems to be the reference to his uncertain parentage. Prince Harry claimed that he feared he would be removed from the Royal Family on the grounds of rumors that King Charles was not his biological father. If this were the case, it would suggest another attempt by the media to invade and destabilize Harry’s personal life.

As of yet, there has been no announcement regarding the lawsuit’s outcome. According to some who have commented on the case, Prince Harry has not provided a large amount of solid evidence to support his claims.
