Everything You Need to Know: The Jaw-Dropping Season Finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars
This season of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars has had no shortage of drama. Now, with the addition of the online Fame Games, the queens are hungrier than ever.
With the season finale just ahead, tensions are high. Episode 7, Forensic Queens, challenged the contestants to showcase their improv skills in a mock murder-mystery skit. LaLa Ri won the maxi challenge with her comedic skills. She also won her lip-sync battle against season 14 competitor Jorgeous and sent pageant-queen Kahanna Montrese home. The competition narrowed the top 5 down to LaLa Ri, Jimbo, Kandy Muse, Alexis Michelle, and Jessica Wild.
Although LaLa Ri shined in the improv challenge, the design challenge cut her success short the following week. Alexis Michelle, the winner of episode 8, was also sent home the week following her maxi challenge win.
In the nail-biting episode 10, our top 3 queens, Jimbo, Kandy Muse, and Jessica Wild, battled for their spot in the finale. The maxi challenge for this episode was to makeover lesbians and prepare them for the runway. After all the queens put up a fierce fight, Kandy reigned victorious. Although she lost her lip sync, choosing who to eliminate ultimately came down to her. The decision is usually left to a group vote when the winner loses her lip sync, but it ended in a tie since only Jimbo and Jessica voted. Kandy decided to eliminate Jessica, narrowing the competition to two: Jimbo and Kandy.
However, the finale isn’t the only way the queens can win. The Fames Games, a new feature of this season, lets the fans select a second winner. The winner will be crowned Queen of the Fame Games and receive a cash prize of $50,000.
Here’s how it works: each week, eliminated queens will showcase their unused runway looks online and on RuPaul’s spinoff series, RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked. Additionally, the contestants have been campaigning on social media for a shot at the crown. The winner will be based entirely on votes from the audience.
Episode 10 ended with an exciting teaser for the Fame Games. RuPaul told the eliminated queens, “For this week’s Maxi challenge, you need to wow us in the Fame Games Variety Extravaganza. This is your last chance to impress the fans before they cast their votes.” The Fame Games Variety Extravaganza airs July 14, right before voting for The Fame Games opens. This talent show will give eliminated queens one more shot at earning the crown before sashaying away.
Jimbo and Kandy Muse are not competing in the Fame Games, nor is season 12 Miss Congeniality winner Heidi N Closet. After an argument in the Werk Room, Heidi voluntarily left this season of All Stars, stating, “I’m not going to regret this. I know I’m not. I’m pleased with what I showed.” RuPaul and the rest of the judges’ panel gave Heidi their love and respected her decision to leave.
Watch the season finale on July 21 and stream it on Paramount+. Voting for the Fame Games opens July 14.
