Earlier Thursday, RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars unveiled a brand-new twist based on its Untucked spin-off, as well as the guest judges we’ll see throughout the season.

In the upcoming season 8 of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars, the series revealed that for the first time in Drag Race history, viewers will be able to vote on the winner of a $50,000 cash prize. The title that viewers will vote on will be called “Queen of the Fame Games,” and will go to an eliminated queen.

Here’s how it works: every week, each eliminated queen will have an opportunity to showcase their unused runway looks online and in RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked (a behind-the-scenes spin-off that airs alongside the series). Viewers have the chance to vote on which queen has their favorite looks. T the winner will receive $50,000 and the title “Queen of the Fame Games.”

On Twitter, the series teased the twist with the official season trailer: “The game is fame, but who’s in it to win it?!”

This twist has never been implemented on All-Stars. In non-All-Star seasons of drag race, fans had the opportunity to vote for the “Miss Congeniality” title for the queen they believed to be the kindest on the season. Unfortunately, due to hacking, viewer voting ceased post-season 9. This will be the first time in years that viewers will have the opportunity to use their voice to reward a queen themselves.

Alongside the twist, it also ru-vealed the upcoming celebrity guests. Drag Race has had no problem getting stars, with guest appearances and judges ranging from long-time supporter Bob Mackey to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.

For season 8, All Stars continues to pull out the big guns. Judges include Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, Ross Mathews, and Ts Madison (who joined the permanent panel of judges for season 15 of Drag Race). Joining them as celebrity guests include Jojo Siwa, Maude Apatow, Idina Menzel, and Matt Rogers. Other celebrity judges include:

  • Brandon Boyd
  • Zooey Deschanel
  • Thom Filicia
  • Javicia Leslie
  • Ego Nwodim
  • Adam Shankman
  • Robin Thede
  • Bowen Yang.

On their official Instagram, All Stars teased some of their guest judges with screencaps from the upcoming season.

Fans can watch RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars premiere on May 12 on Paramount+.
