Jonah Hill Under Fire for Alleged Misogynistic Messages With Ex-Girlfriend
This week, surfer Sarah Brady spoke out about Jonah Hill’s toxicity throughout their relationship. Many agree that the alleged messages from Hill are abusive.
Last weekend, in a series of Instagram stories, Sarah Brady shared her experience with Jonah Hill. Among her posts were screenshots of alleged text messages between her and Hill. The content of the messages varies from Hill instructing her on what she should post, to who she should form friendships with. The stories have since been removed, but the messages have been preserved in a transcript, for those curious.
In the conversations between Hill and Brady, he instructs her to remove all pictures of herself in a bathing suit from Instagram. Despite being a surfer, Brady agrees to this. Hill specifically pressures Brady to remove images with her “a** in a thong” and “other pictures [of] you in a bathing suit surfing or not.” Hill’s accusation that Brady is sexualizing herself for others continues throughout the exchange.
In the aftermath of sharing her story, Sarah Brady has posted images of herself on Instagram with the caption, “posting these now cause I wasn’t allowed to at the time they were taken.”
The caption seems to refer to Jonah Hill’s emotionally abusive behavior in their relationship. The alleged messages show Hill degrading and trying to control Brady. In one segment, Hill claims that Brady has overstepped and ignored his boundaries.
He stated, “Plain and simple: If you need: surfing with men, boundaryless inappropriate friendships with men, to model, to post pictures of yourself in a bathing suit, to post sexual pictures, friendships with women who are in unstable places and from your wild recent past beyond getting a lunch or coffee or something respectful. I am not the right partner for you. If these things bring you to a place of happiness I support it and there will be no hard feelings. These are my boundaries for romantic partnership. My boundaries with you based on the ways these actions have hurt our trust.”
These messages demonstrate Hill’s desire to control Brady’s life and shame her for her decisions. Many commentators believe that Hill’s comments resemble gaslighting and manipulation. The term “therapy speak” is making its rounds on the internet in response to the situation.
Since opening up about her trauma and mistreatment, Brady has been active on social media. Her Instagram story shows countless reposts from supportive fans. Many of them even have similar experiences and stand in solidarity with Brady.
