Lizzo Responds to Lawsuit Backlash
Lizzo has come under scrutiny after three former dancers accused the star of a wide range of inappropriate behaviors, including harassment and hostility. She has responded to the lawsuit claims.
Trigger Warning
Earlier this week on August 1, the public was shocked by Lizzo’s alleged mistreatment of her staff. The lawsuit was submitted by three of Lizzo’s former dancers. They sought recognition for unfair treatment and unprofessional behavior.
After the dancers came out with their story, several of Lizzo’s former co-workers have come out in support of the dancers. They claimed they were also uncomfortable with the way the singer interacted with her team. For more specific information regarding the details of the lawsuit, please read here.
Sophia Nahli Allison, who dropped out from filming Lizzo’s documentary, claimed that the singer is “arrogant, self-centered, and unkind.”
Since the news of the lawsuit has gone public, Lizzo has received an abundance of criticism. Many former fans are calling out her hypocritical behavior and lack of compassion for others. While the claims against Lizzo continue to be disputed, more people are coming forward every day.
Lizzo was out there treating people exactly how she didn’t wanna be treated? That’s crazy.

Lizzo’s alleged behavior surfaced immediate concern and strong reactions from the public because of her behavior’s reflection of cycles in the entertainment industry. Celebrities are often permitted to take advantage of others because of the power imbalance in their relationship. This can lead to abuse and harassment, leading to an overall hostile working environment.
In response to the lawsuit, Lizzo’s lawyer released a tape of one of the dancers auditioning for Watch Out for the Big Grrrls. It seems as though the goal of the tape’s release is to prove that Arianna Davis is not being truthful. However, many people are defending Davis, believing she had to say things in order to keep her job.

Lizzo released a statement responding to these allegations. She maintains that she is “not the villain” of the story.
The singer also responds to the accusations of sexual harassment by stating, “I am very open with my sexuality and expressing myself but I cannot accept or allow people to use that openness to make me out to be something I am not.”
Lizzo maintains that she has not mistreated her workers or fired them without cause. She is represented by Marty Singer, who has worked with celebrities, such as Bill Cosby, Charlie Sheen, Chris Brown, and Jonah Hill. Her full response can be read below.
