Taylor Swift Officially Announces Lead Single From New Album

Taylor Swift has announced the first single from her new album, The Tortured Poets Department. The song “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone serves as the lead single.

Taylor Swift has announced the first single from her new album, The Tortured Poets Department. The song “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone serves as the lead single.

Swift took to Instagram to announce the news by posting an image of her next to Post Malone with the caption, “The first single from The Tortured Poets Department is…………. Fortnight featuring @postmalone.” The “Lover” singer also states that a music video for the song will be released on April 19 at 8 p.m.

Additionally, Swift uploaded a video on YouTube Shorts to accompany the Instagram announcement. The video featured her at a typewriter typing the words, “First single: Fortnight (feat Post Malone). Join the For a Fortnight Challenge April 19.” Moreover, the “Anti-Hero” singer announced the single as an exclusive CD for sale. It will only be available on her website until 8 p.m. EST on April 18 or while supplies last. 

The Tortured Poets Department will be released on April 19. It will serve as Swift’s 11 studio album. The singer has kept fans in anticipation for her new era of music, partly due to the secrecy and lack of promotion surrounding her album. With the upcoming release date, Swift leaves many hints for fans about what’s to come.

Since the album’s announcement at the 66 Grammys, fans have been speculating what this album will be about. To celebrate the album release, The Grove in Los Angeles hosted “The Tortured Poets Department: A Spotify Library Installation.” According to their website, this installation allows fans to “explore a poetry library, highly curated to represent the new record. The shelves will be packed with books and visual surprises for fans to enjoy.” This interactive exhibit has allowed fans to look for clues to decipher themes in the upcoming album.
