Gigi Hadid Rocks Grunge Look in New Collaborative Campaign
Gigi Hadid looks absolutely stunning in a punky grunge look for a collaboration between Heaven by Marc Jacobs X Dilara Fındıkoğlu.
Both brands are known for their major cult followings, so it’s no secret that as soon as this collection comes out, it’ll sell out just as quickly. Heaven by Marc Jacobs has been a major favorite amongst Gen Z as it starred many of their favorite fashion icons, like Gigi’s sister Bella Hadid, in 2021.

Jacobs decided to work with Turkish-British designer Dilara Fındıkoğlu on ready-to-wear pieces inspired by her own high school grunge era. Hadid, as the face of the campaign, was photographed by Alana O’Herlihy in various grunge-inspired outfits like shirts with rips adorned with safety pins, lace-up babydoll dresses, and lots of leather.

Fındıkoğlu stated, “When I was creating this collection, I had my high school years in mind where I was listening to Avril Lavigne, The Runaways, Bikini Kill, and Girlschool, trying to find my identity wearing metallic blue Marc Jacobs platforms, Gothic Lolita dresses and band T-shirts.” The looks are amazing and very nostalgic of the grunge 90s.
The 90s were a golden era for counterculture and allowed streetwear, as well as typically disheveled looks, to be desirable. It wasn’t just about looking cool; it was about going against the grain and rebelling against the polished aspects of the 90s. Though, seemingly anti-fashion, grunge allowed for creativity at home in the DIY aspects of dying as well as ripping up band tees and jeans. Ironically enough one of fashion’s most iconic models, Shalom Harlow, was spotted at the alternative band The Cure’s concert in 1990.
