Rare Beauty and Sephora Partner For World Mental Health Day
For World Mental Health Day, on October 10, Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty is partnering with Sephora to donate 100% of its revenue to mental health services and education.
Selena Gomez took to her Instagram to announce her second collaboration with Sephora. Her makeup line, Rare Beauty, will collaborate with the international beauty retailer to donate all its sales to the Rare Impact Fund.
“The Rare Impact Fund began before we ever launched a product. Over the past 4 years, we have provided resources to 26 grantees globally who are doing incredible work,” she posted in a statement to her followers. “We couldn’t do this without your support, and it means the world to me that Sephora is joining us in our mission!”
Rare Beauty was first launched in September of 2020. Known for its colorful blushes and its iconic founder, it quickly became one of the hottest makeup brands both online and in stores. The brand even skyrocketed to a point where the singer and Rare Beauty founder has officially earned her status as a billionaire.
Sephora and Rare Beauty have previously worked for this fund in the past. In 2023, Sephora and Rare Beauty first launched a campaign to provide global awareness and services regarding mental health. It was targeted at the younger age demographic in the world. This is because, according to Selena Gomez, she would have liked to experience these services when she was going through similar mental health issues.
“Mental health is personal for me. I went a long time without the support I needed because I didn’t understand what I was feeling,” she expressed in a note for the Rare Impact Fund. “That’s why I started the Rare Impact Fund. It’s a commitment to expand access to mental health services and education for young people everywhere. Because no one—regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, or background—should struggle alone.”
According to data from Rare Beauty’s Social Impact Report, 7 million dollars were raised in 2023, reaching five continents around the world. The overall Rare Impact Fund goal is 100 million dollars. Selena Gomez has also hosted benefit events to raise money and showcase the support individuals have for mental health.
Fans of both Selena Gomez and Rare Beauty have been vocal regarding their opinions of the brand and its impact.
