Camila Cabello Reveals Compliment Beyoncé Gave Her in New Interview
Camila Cabello shared a memorable experience of meeting global icon Beyoncé, a moment that left the “Havana” singer completely starstruck.
Cabello appeared on And The Writer Is… podcast with Ross Golan, where she opened up about her thoughts on songwriting, her time with Fifth Harmony, and navigating the music industry. The pop star, who recently released her latest album C,XOXO, shared a surprising story about discovering that Beyoncé is a fan. She revealed that Beyoncé told her she loved the album—a compliment she admits she’s been “gatekeeping” until now.
“I met someone who told me something about my album. She was like, ‘I love your new album,’” she shared on the podcast, recounting the interaction at a star-studded Fourth of July party hosted by Michael Rubin. “I was like, ‘You inspire me so much; I would not be here without you.’”
“And then I walked away and cried; I thought nobody knew who I was,” the singer concluded. However, this isn’t the first time Cabello has expressed her admiration for Beyoncé. In a 2020 interview with Vogue, the singer shared that her pre-concert rituals include watching Beyoncé’s iconic Homecoming film, which captures her groundbreaking 2018 Coachella performance as the first Black woman to headline the festival.
“I spent the last whole year before every performance, I would listen to Homecoming and just watch that documentary; it just felt so meaningful and important and connected to humanity and what’s real in the world,” Cabello stated. “I was just really inspired by her strength, and I think that she’s incredible.”
In 2023, the singer reaffirmed her admiration for Beyoncé, telling Rolling Stone she continues to inspire her. The star also expressed excitement for her concert film documenting the record-breaking Renaissance tour, an iconic concert that Cabello attended alongside many other celebrities.
