Euphoria Season 3 to Begin Production in January
The highly anticipated third season of Sam Levinson’s Euphoria will begin filming in January 2025. Bringing fans eight new episodes for the first time in years.
Earlier this year, HBO CEO Casey Bloys confirmed that the main cast would be returning for the third season, and now Bloys has officially revealed the production start date.
The chairman spoke with reporters at an HBO/Max press event stating, “I think we have a start date, mid to late January. Nothing’s changed. Somebody said something online, and then this whole thing started. We are shooting the season. I have read the scripts. We’re happy. We’re moving ahead. All of the actors are in the show.”
Bloys also discussed how many episodes the third season would consist of. “I know the show gets a lot of attention now because, you know, it has created some genuine movie stars, and they have various projects that are working on, but we are shooting this season, so nothing has changed,” he exclaims before confirming, “It’s eight episodes.”

Production for season three was meant to start back in Spring of 2024. However, series creator Levinson and HBO had to push back production. Much of the delay is related to disagreements on the script, “HBO execs were now the ones feeling unsatisfied. There was a new arc for Zendaya’s Rue, whose character in Levinson’s first pass had been relegated to the background in a somewhat surprising storyline about her working as a private detective, which HBO had immediately vetoed. Among many other ideas for the rewrites, Zendaya had pitched an idea in which Rue, who is now sober as a twentysomething young woman, would be a pregnancy surrogate. But insiders say the new scripts simply didn’t feel like the show tonally.”
The unfortunate news of Angus Cloud’s passing, a talented actor who played Fezco, and producer Kevin Turen both caused “another traumatic blow for Levinson and the cast, and further slowed down the creative process.”
Season two premiered back in 2022, meaning that viewers have waited three years for new Euphoria episodes. After leaving the show on multiple cliffhangers, Levinson has left fans itching for more.
Although there is no confirmation yet as to when season three will air, only time will tell. Seasons one and two of Euphoria are now streaming on Max.
