Shaboozey Makes History with 19 New Week at Number One on the Hot 100
Shaboozey’s chart-topping hit, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” has made history by spending an incredible 19 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. This achievement ties the record set by Lil Nas X’s 2019 smash hit, “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, for the longest-running No. 1 song in Hot 100 history.
During its record-breaking run, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has cemented its place in music history. The hit single dethroned Morgan Wallen’s 2023 track, “Last Night,” which held the No. 1 spot for 17 weeks. Shaboozey’s song has also shattered records on the country charts, holding the No. 1 position for an unprecedented 23 weeks while dominating airplay across Country, Pop, and Adult Pop formats.
Over the past year, the singer has emerged as a standout artist in the country music scene, earning the title of the biggest country song of the year. He’s also the most nominated country artist at the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards, securing an impressive six nominations.
However, Shaboozey’s success hasn’t been without controversy. At last week’s Country Music Awards, where he performed and was nominated for two awards, the artist became the subject of repeated jokes throughout the ceremony. The remarks sparked backlash online, with many calling them racially motivated. The situation escalated further when Cody Johnson’s acceptance speech for Album of the Year included a comment from producer Trent Williams that many interpreted as targeting Shaboozey.
“I got to tell you, this is for this cowboy who’s been kicking Shaboozey for a lot of years,” Trent Williams stated during the acceptance speech.
Shaboozey is independent and has been number one for 18 weeks. Black folk even if you’re not into country music, run it up for @ShaboozeysJeans !!!!!!— (@bjjones__) November 23, 2024
Despite the controversy, fans rallied around Shaboozey to celebrate his historic achievement. Social media was abuzz with congratulations:
