Taylor Swift Achieves New Musical and Literary Records in 2024
Taylor Swift continues to dominate the charts and break records as 2024 comes to a close, achieving both the most-streamed album globally and the biggest publishing debut of the year.
As The Eras Tour approaches its grand finale on December 8, Swift is ending the year on a high note. Spotify’s annual Wrapped campaign, which highlights listeners’ top songs, artists, albums, and podcasts, also serves to celebrate creators’ achievements. This year, Taylor Swift stands at the top.
“With more than 26.6 billion streams globally, Taylor Swift is Spotify’s 2024 Global Top Artist,” announced Spotify For the Record. Alongside this monumental achievement, her album The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology claimed the title of the most-streamed album worldwide.
Adding to her accolades, Swift also achieved the biggest publishing debut of the year. Her Eras Tour Book, released exclusively through Target stores on Black Friday, became an instant bestseller.
“According to Circana, Swift’s Eras Tour Book sold 814,000 copies over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend,” reported the Associated Press. “The only bigger nonfiction debut was Barack Obama’s presidential memoir A Promised Land, which sold 816,000 copies in its first week in 2020, excluding audio and e-book formats.”
The singer announced the book in October as a celebration of the final leg of The Eras Tour. On social media, she described it as capturing “personal reflections, never-before-seen behind-the-scenes photos, and all the magical memories” of her record-breaking tour.
In addition to this year’s 2024 milestones, Swift achieved the highest-grossing tour in history, the top-earning concert film of all time, and now one of the best-selling books of the year. With her Eras Tour Book projected to sell over a million copies by next week, and her Spotify streams only continuing to climb, the artist proves once again why she remains a global icon.
