Leslie Odom Jr. Announces Return to Hamilton in New Statement
Leslie Odom Jr. will reprise his role of Aaron Burr on Broadway’s Hamilton this fall.
Odom initially portrayed the character off-Broadway, which earned him a Tony Award. He will return to the Richard Rodgers Theatre production from September 9 until November 23, marking nine years since he left the musical in July 2016.
“I was born on the stage of the Richard Rodgers Theater in so many ways,” he told the Associated Press. “I’m really looking forward to it.”

The 43-year-old actor will return as Hamilton prepares for its 10-year Broadway anniversary on August 6. “Returning to Hamilton is a deeply meaningful homecoming,” Odom claimed. “I’m so grateful for the chance to step back into the room, especially during the anniversary moment, and to revisit this brilliant piece that forever changed my life and the lives of so many.”
He added, “I look back on it fondly. It was the start of so much for me. It was the start of a career that I always dreamed of. It’s just the beginning. It’s the genesis.”
Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller claims witnessing Odom work his magic in “The Room Where It Happens” was a historic moment. “How lucky we are that Leslie is returning to Hamilton and bringing his incredible Burr back to Broadway,” he concluded.

The actor returned to Broadway last season to co-produce and work in Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch which was nominated for six Tony Awards, including one for him.
Since acting in Hamilton, Odom has received two Academy Award nominations for the Best Original Song and portraying Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami. He has also appeared in films such as Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, The Many Saints of Newark, and Harriet, as well as TV series such as Central Park and Abbott Elementary.
Odom has also worked in the recording studio by releasing five albums from When a Crooner Dies, Simply Christmas, Mr, The Christmas Album, to Leslie Odom Jr.
