Hayley Williams Delights Fans with New R&B Collaboration
Paramore frontwoman and Good Dye Young founder Hayley Williams keeps busy even if the band is not following their 2023 Grammy-Award-winning album, This Is Why. The multifaceted singer will be featured on “I Like It, I Like It” by singer and model Moses Sumney. It is the latest in a string of musical appearances from the star.
Last Monday, Williams received an award from the National Dance Institute, which she attended in New York. In an Instagram post following the event, the songstress wrote, “Perfect trip to NY, and I think the theatre bug bit me big time.”
Following a popular R&B-tinged remix of one “Misery Business” hitting TikTok by storm, Sumney posted a video of the duo crip walking to the track in matching all-black fits and platinum blonde bob wigs. The singer captioned the video, “I had to get down with my cousin Hayleisha rq [real quick].”
On Instagram, one fan commented, “Stop, I would crash out to a Moses x Hayley collab…” Sumney replied, “Jesus, take the wheel.”
The video is one of a couple that Sumney had dropped, though it was unclear what the two had planned. Sumney, whose last musical release received critical acclaim, moved to focus on acting. The collaboration marks Williams’ first venture into R&B and adds to a list of surprising musical appearances by the songstress in recent months. Last month, the singer appeared alongside Deftones for a live version of “Minerva” during the Nashville stop of the nu-metal band’s tour.
Before that, Williams shared the stage with Finneas in the same city. The pair performed a version of Paramore’s “crushcrushcrush” from the band’s breakthrough album, Riot!. She has also shared the stage with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Cyndi Lauper, where the ladies performed her breakthrough hit, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” on the singer’s farewell tour.
Williams also lent vocals to punk rock band Turnstile‘s “Seein’ Stars” track, where you can hear her along with Blood Orange, also known as Devonté Hynes. Outside of the band, Williams has released two critically acclaimed solo albums, Petals for Armor and Flowers for Vases / Descansos, in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
