Doja Cat Drops New Song, Stuns at Met Gala
Ahead of her Met Gala appearance, superstar Doja Cat has dropped the first full track of what her next studio album may sound like. The song, titled “Crack,” was earlier teased on the singer’s Instagram and gave fans the first taste of what seems to be her next studio album.
While more specific details of the singer’s upcoming fifth studio album are to be revealed, she has continued to satiate fans by teasing tracks on her Instagram live feeds.
The “Demons” hitmaker then walked the red carpet at the Met Gala. Leaning into this year’s “Superfine: Tailoring into Black Style” theme, the superstar hit all the right notes in a Marc Jacobs custom bodysuit with an 80s twist.
The glittery, striped tailored bodysuit included broad shoulders and a surprising leopard-printed front structured to highlight the singer’s physique. Leaning further into the 80s elegance and sporty attire, she paired the look with sheer black tights and stiletto ankle boots. Lilac eyeshadow and a bold red lip brighten her face and bring more color to the show-stopping outfit.
For some extra sparkle, the “Paint The Town Red” songstress accessorized the look further with crystal-embedded shades and gold stiletto nails.
In her final fitting with Vogue, her stylist cited Grace Jones as a reference and commented, “We started off in her big pop realm of the 1970s with “Say So,” but she can really dip into a lot of different eras of music and different themes.”

The expressive number marks her third appearance at the Met Gala and expertly combines the event’s theme with a twist. She commented, “It’s definitely inspired by Grace.” She stressed that her hairstyle is expressive of Black culture and compliments the look. “I wanted somebody to do my hair in a way that wasn’t flattening it, it wasn’t straightening it, it wasn’t trying to undo the natural way of my hair.”
She continued, “Whatever he [Vernon] does, he really is a vision of people who have hair like mine.”
This look differed from her previous Met Gala looks, one of which was that she transformed her face into one that resembled a cat and only answered red-carpet questions. She called that a “transformative” moment: “It felt like spiritually intertwined with who I was because I love to transform.”
Last year’s look by Vetements had the “Need to Know” singer donning black tears streaked down her cheeks, which aligned with her emotions while making her previous albums, Scarlet and Scarlet 2 Claude.
She commented on this year’s look, “This just feels like I came out of that melancholia and went into this sort of strong character that is ready to be happy and have fun.”
The fashion chameleon continues to prove that she will not shy away from taking risks. She continues to push the envelope, and we can’t wait to see what she does next. You can stream her new track below and download it on her website.
