Chance the Rapper: Youngest to Receive the Humanitarian Award
Those of us who follow Chance the Rapper have noticed his efforts of reforming education in Chicago. One of his actions was giving the CPS one million dollars to urge Gov. Rauner to, “do his job,” and give the children of Chicago their rightful education and resources. His efforts did not go unnoticed by us nor the BET Awards as he is the youngest recipient of the Humanitarian Award which acknowledges efforts done for the community. As he walked to the stage in his slacks and dress shoes, his momma joined us in trying to hold back tears.
Chance the Rapper did not write a speech because, like his artistry, he wanted to speak from the heart. We heard it in loud volumes in the awards and right at home as we celebrated his excellence and black excellence throughout the rest of the night. Whether at the awards or cheering from home, we all had fun enjoying positive vibes and role models/greats like Chance the Rapper.
Chance the Rapper is an incredible and generous man that seeks to help the future. Thank you for investing in the education of children of future greats and thank you BET Awards for reminding us just how magical the Black community is!
