‘Despacito’ Broke Two Records In One Day
That’s how it’s done in Puerto Rico!
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee created and released the reggaeton hit song ‘Despacito’ in January of this year and the world is in love. The title ‘Despacito’ translates to mean slowly in English, but it does not live up to its name as it has taken the charts, YouTube and people’s minds by storm.
As of August 4th, 2017 ‘Despacito’ holds the following records:
- Most watched video on YouTube and the most viewed video of all time
- First video to reach 3 billion views on YouTube
‘Despacito’ took the title of being the most viewed video of all time from Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s ‘See You Again‘ just weeks after they earned the title. The song has also spent the past 12 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. This song is also making history because the video was released in January 2017 and in only seven months, the song and video have managed to reach a lot of milestones in a short period of time.
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee took to their social media to thank their fans or the achievements and their continued support. They also thanked YouTube for being a platform where people worldwide have access to their music. Keep the momentum going by watching the video down below.
