Rodrigo’s throwback-inspired music video for “Good 4 U” serves as an homage to the 2009 film Jennifer’s Body, the 2001 film The Princess Diaries, and the 1999 Japanese horror film Audition. The music video spotlights Audition, featuring Rodrigo, is fashioning an ensemble closely related to the film. Additionally, Rodrigo is seen sporting a remarkably similar cheerleading outfit seen in The Princess Diaries. In the conclusion of the throwback homage, Rodrigo exuberates the iconic Jennifer’s Body scene exiting the dark, murky waters ceasing her exit and closing of the video.

Fans on Twitter were quick to notice the drastic change of tone between Olivia’s first release, “Driver’s License,” compared to “Good 4 U.” Her first release, “Driver’s License,” is the emotional and devastating stage of a break-up, followed by her second single, “Deja Vu,” highlighting the jealousy/reasoning phase of breakup recovery. Which ultimately leads to the final step: anger and moving on to bigger and better things.
