Tyler, The Creator Blew Away the BET Awards With ‘Lumberjack’ Performance

On June 27, Tyler, The Creator performed for the first time ever at the BET Awards with his lead single “Lumberjack.” On the BET stage, the 30-year-old rapper and musician recreated the “Lumberjack” music video with creative whirlwind effects.

In Tyler, The Creator’s performance, he started out in the backseat of a Rolls Royce, while a voice can be heard announcing, “I need you to let them know there’s going to be a windstorm.” Right after, Tyler begins performing his new track “Lumberjack,” and eventually leaves the car. Outside of the car, the rapper attempts to carry objects such as his luggage and mail, but he is blown back by strong winds during the two-minute performance. In the end, Tyler is carried away by the wind and he jumps off the screen.

After the performance aired in front of a live audience, Tyler took to Twitter to send love to the BET Awards. The next day, the rapper, still excited about the gusty stage, announced to fans in all-caps, “IF YOU HAVENT SEEN, I PERFORMED LAST NIGHT, WAS NICE.”

Before his performance, Tyler stunned on the BET Awards Red Carpet wearing a red and white sweater vest with black shorts. The rapper carried around luggage props that fit the theme of his performance for “Lumberjack.”

“Lumberjack” is the lead single off of Tyler’s new album called Call Me If You Get Lost. Released on June 25, the album has 16 tracks and is Tyler’s sixth studio album. If you want to support Tyler’s career, fans can check out the “Lumberjack” music video on Youtube.
