Teyana Taylor’s ‘Get Lite’ Starring Storm Reid Adds New Cast
Teyana Taylor is officially stepping behind the camera in a major way, and she is bringing serious star power with her. The multi-hyphenate has added Tony winner Leslie Odom Jr. and Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor to the ensemble of Get Lite, her hotly anticipated feature directorial debut for Paramount. The casting news marks another exciting milestone in what is quickly becoming a banner era for the Harlem-born talent.
Fresh off her own awards-season breakthrough, Taylor is proving she is just as compelling a storyteller from the director’s chair as she is on screen.

According to Variety, which broke the news, Odom Jr. (Hamilton, One Night in Miami) and Ellis-Taylor (King Richard, Nickel Boys) join a stacked lineup led by Storm Reid (Euphoria, The Last of Us) and NFL rookie-turned-actor Ceyair Wright. Wright, who made headlines earlier this year when he stepped away from the Cincinnati Bengals to chase an acting opportunity, takes on the lead role.
The film follows a talented but sheltered dance student who discovers inspiration, love, and family in the last place he ever expected: the subways of New York City. Reid plays the girl who cracks his world wide open. At the heart of it all is Litefeet, the high-energy street-dance style born in Taylor’s own hometown of Harlem, giving the project a deeply personal, hometown-pride pulse.
A Rising Star Behind the Camera
For Taylor, Get Lite represents a thrilling new chapter. The Golden Globe winner earned an Academy Award nomination for her acclaimed performance in One Battle After Another, and she is channeling that momentum straight into directing. She also produces through The Aunties, her production banner with partner Courtney “Coco” Gilbert, alongside Kenya Barris, with Reid producing as well.
It is a natural extension of the creative reign Taylor has been on lately, from the striking Alaïa campaign she recently fronted to this ambitious leap into filmmaking.
