Madonna is bringing her Madame X concert to audiences everywhere with a documentary on Paramount Plus. The announcement comes a week after the Queen of Pop hinted at a possible documentary over Instagram. Madame X will premiere on October 8 in limited countries and on MTV everywhere else.

Madonna went on tour for her fourteenth studio album back in 2019, but it was cut short due to the pandemic. Filmed on location in Lisbon, Portugal, Madame X features an ensemble of performers and her children taking the stage with Madonna.

“Madame X is a secret agent. Traveling around the world. Changing identities. Fighting for freedom. Bringing light to dark places,” Madonna said of the concept album, according to Dazed.

Back in 2019, The World of Madame X was released on Amazon Prime. The 22-minute documentary followed the singer’s album process with behind-the-scenes footage. Madame X will go into these details at a greater length, looking at Madonna’s personal battle with physical injury and the eventual cancellation of her tour due to COVID.

“Sharing my vision with global audiences has been profoundly meaningful to me. The opportunity to bring its message and the incandescent artistry of all involved to an even wider audience comes at a time when music is so deeply needed to remind us of the sacred bond of our shared humanity,” Madonna said in a statement, according to MTV News.

During its initial release on June 14, 2019, Madame X reached No. 1 on the US Billboard 200. This was the first time that the “Killers Who Are Partying” singer topped the chart since 2014. Though this isn’t the pop star’s first documentary – Truth or Dare was widely received in the 1990s – it is the first of hers in nearly thirty years.

Get ready for an exciting digital concert experience on October 8. Until then, check out the teaser for Madame X above.
