Marvel’s New Animation Series ‘What If…?’ Has Fans Buzzing
On Wednesday, August 11 Disney+ released the first episode of the new Marvel series called What If…? Voice actors in this series include Mark Ruffalo, Taika Waititi, Paul Bettany, Sebastian Stan, Hayley Atwell, and more. While Marvel itself has made many animated series in the past, this is the first of its kind in the MCU and the fourth television series in the MCU produced by Marvel Studios. Fans were skeptical in the beginning due to the fact this is the first animated series in the franchise.
The show focuses on alternate timeline theories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first episode explores the idea of Peggy Carter taking the super serum instead of Steve Rodgers. This episode follows Peggy as she learns to adapt to the serum as well as being a female super soldier in the 40’s. Fans questioned if this series would hold to the Marvel standard.
The consensus on the series so far has been positive. Most fans have commented on how realistic and well done the animation is. Fans have also been loving how What If…? is different than the other movies and series created by Marvel. This series allows Marvel to become more creative and create different storylines that normally would not fall in line with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The positive feedback that What If…? has received has already led to future plans in the MCU with animation.

Fans are excited to see the latest installment to the series of What if…? because it will explore more timeline theories. Although it has not been announced what the series entails some have speculated that What If…? will explore T’Challa being Star-Lord, Gamora taking the place of Thanos, and Spider-Man becoming a sorcerer like Doctor Strange.
