Sza Shares BTS Of Her New Vans Collab, VANSZA
SZA is pulling back the curtain on her buzziest fashion moment yet, and it is every bit as free-spirited as you would hope. In a dreamy behind-the-scenes look at the campaign for VANSZA, her first-ever collaboration with Vans, the singer trades the studio for a sun-bleached golden field, posing in distressed, earth-toned pieces with her signature red-and-black curls catching the light. It is equal parts fashion shoot and love letter to the outdoors, and it perfectly captures the nature-forward spirit of the collection SZA designed herself.
Inside SZA’s Nature-Forward VANSZA Shoot
The behind-the-scenes clip leans all the way into the collection’s earthy world. SZA roams tall, dry grass and tucks into rocky hollows in head-to-toe distressed khaki, the kind of lived-in, sun-faded styling that looks like it was pulled straight from the land around her. There are playful, personal touches scattered throughout too, from a Sanrio-covered heart-shaped hand mirror to a glimpse of the collection’s “leafy camo” and paint-splattered pieces on her fellow models. Every frame feels intentional, grounding the launch in the wandering, back-to-nature mood that gives VANSZA its name and its heart.
Design Approach for SZA’s First Vans Collection
VANSZA is not just a campaign, it is a full collection that SZA shaped from the ground up, and she had real fun reinventing the classics. The lineup centers on two standout silhouettes: a Knu Skool Mule, a black-and-white skate shoe she reimagined as an easy open-back slip-on, and an Authentic “Kickdown” in tattered white canvas with fish graphics and a fold-down heel that converts into its own mule. “I created a step-down shoe, and then I took the whole back off the Knu Skool because, why not?” SZA shared of her design approach, adding that she was chasing “less effort, more fun, more accessibility, more comfort, more color.” The collection rounds out with apparel in leafy camo and paint-splattered khaki.
When the SZA VANSZA Collection Drops
The timing could not be better for fans ready to shop the look. VANSZA Drop 1 arrived on October 22, available through Vans and select retailers both online and in stores, with the shoes landing around the $110 to $115 range. It is a milestone moment for SZA, who has fully stepped into her role as a Vans artistic director after starring in the brand’s “Off the Wall” campaign earlier this year. Between the thoughtful design, the nature-drenched visuals, and that unmistakable SZA ease, VANSZA feels less like a celebrity collab and more like a genuine extension of her world, and this behind-the-scenes peek is the perfect invitation into it.
