This Tuesday, September 28, Kate Middleton brought glitz and glamour to the red carpet premiere of No Time to Die. Following the Duchess’ trend of paying homage to late royals, Middleton dazzled in a gold-beaded Jenny Packham gown, channeling a look from her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

The dress caught the crowd’s eye with its gold-beading and metallic long-sleeves, complete with a dramatic, floor-length cape. The center of the dress was detailed to be a focal point, and on top of this, the Duchess was accessorized with earrings from O’Nitaa. Her hair was styled in a delicately intricate updo, letting the dress be the center of attention for the overall look.

The styling paid homage to a similar dress Princess Diana wore in 1985 as she attended the premiere of a previous Bond film, A View to a Kill. The late princess’ dress had a similar shape with detailing, their likeliness seen in the padded shoulders, glimmering colors, plunging neckline, and cinched waist.

But the similarities don’t end there. In 1985, Princess Diana attended the event and shared a moment with Roger Moore, star of the premiering Bond film at the time, shaking his hand on the red carpet. Not only did Middleton subtly recreate Diana’s iconic look, but she also took to time on the red carpet to shake hands and speak with Daniel Craig, star of No Time to Die, who told her she “[looked] jolly lovely!”

Middleton took to the premiere with her husband, Prince William, who donned a classic, black velvet tuxedo. William’s father, Prince Charles, and his stepmother, Camilla, joined the couple for the event as well. The film’s stars also stepped out for the momentous occasion, though it was clear that Middelton’s Princess Diana moment stole the spotlight.
