Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton buckles up for a Christmas adventure with protege Kate Bishop (portrayed by Hailee Steinfeld) in a new trailer for the upcoming Disney+ show, Marvel’s Hawkeye. The preview starts with a light instrumental of “Deck the Halls,” adding a jovial holiday twist to the action-packed scenes and comedic soundbites revealed in the clip. With the new series hitting Disney+ in just under a month, fans are already on the edge of their seats.

Although it has been confirmed that Barton’s spin-off series takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, it’s still somewhat unclear what their exact place in the Marvel cinematic universe is. When interviewed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Renner reveals that the series is “current.”

He talks about the six-part holiday event specifically, explaining that “it takes place in New York over the span of the time that it’s actually being released.” He then goes on to clarify that the show isn’t “in real-time,” rather, it “[takes] place over a week in New York over Christmas.”

In the same sit-down, he addressed the contemporary feel of this particular show compared to others in the Marvel line-up. Renner says that the creative team researched Clint Barton’s Marvel Comics lore “for the look and format of the show.” And this fact hasn’t gone over fans’ heads with the Hawkeye previews.

As far as the plot goes, the show is looking to address the consequences of past actions made by both Barton and Bishop. When Barton took on the role of Ronin during the events between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, he assumed a vigilante persona.

Though it allowed him to channel his fury and grief for the death of his family, it resulted in him making quite a few enemies, the likes of whom are out and looking for revenge. When Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop assumes this persona for a bit and gets involved in Barton’s life, the two archers quickly acknowledge that they’re better off working together.

The first two episodes of the series will be available to stream on Disney+ starting November 24, promising lots of fun from the most recent trailer. Check it out above.
