Grande has received an overwhelming amount of support for her upcoming role as Glinda. Kristin Chenoweth, who portrayed the same character on Broadway, congratulated her “baby girl” on a well-deserved role. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Chenoweth began, “I’m not sure if I’ve ever been this proud.” The performer shared a throwback photo of a young Grande and her grandmother meeting her. Chenoweth agreed with Grande’s manifestation, adding that Glinda, The Good Witch, is the role that Grande was “destined” to play.

In addition to finding their Glinda, Universal has also found its Elphaba, the green-skinned Wicked Witch of the West. Cynthia Erivo will be by Grande's side, portraying the misunderstood wicked witch. Idina Menzel, who portrayed Elphaba in the 2003 Broadway musical opposite Chenoweth's Glinda, wrote that she hopes it changes "their lives for the better and forever and ever" as it has for her and Chenoweth.

Erivo and Grande are feeling and spreading the love as well. Erivo shared on Instagram an emotional photo of her speechless with tears in her eyes. She simply writes, “Pink goes good with Green.” She then shared a pink and green floral arrangement from Grande herself, who wrote on the note that “Honored doesn’t even begin to cover it, I cannot wait to hug you.” She ends the note, “See you in Oz.” Erivo finished the post with Facetime screenshots of the pair in utter disbelief.

Grande took to Instagram to share a photo of her with her hands covering her face, visibly emotional after securing her dream role. She also shared the stunning pink floral arrangement gifted by Erivo that reads, “Congratulations Miss A, the part was made for you. I look forward to sharing this musical journey with you.” Grande also shared epic FaceTime screenshots.

We could not be more excited for Erivo and Grande to bring the magic behind Elphaba and Glinda. The duo will undoubtedly do the roles justice, and fans will be changed for good after watching the film. For the latest on the Wicked production, be sure to follow the Wicked Instagram page.
