Avril Lavigne Drops New Song ‘Bite Me’

DTA Records

Pop-punk icon Avril Lavigne is back with new music. The “Complicated” singer shared “Bite Me” on November 10.

As a major pop-punk revival continues to surge, it would only make sense that Avril Lavigne makes a giant splash back into that music scene. The singer teased her latest single “Bite Me” on November 3 in an exciting way. Lavigne revealed that she recently signed to Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker’s new record label, DTA Records. The two seemed to throw an epic bash to celebrate Lavigne joining Barker’s label, as they spray champagne on each other and engage in a cake-filled food fight. The singer took to Instagram to write, “Should I drop my first single next week?”

Lavigne would stay true to her fans and release her debut single under Barker’s label exactly one week after inking her contract with DTA Records. On November 5, the singer shared the cover art to her newest single. The image has fans feeling all the nostalgia; she still looks edgy while rocking the high platform boots. As the singer strikes a serious pose, a heart-shaped cake that reads “Bite Me” in pink lettering lies beside her.

On November 10, Lavigne shared that “Bite Me” is “just a taste of what’s to come.” Fans are all over it, as “Bite Me” is reminiscent of the singer’s “early days.” “Bite Me” is extra guitar and drum-heavy, a winning combination for lovers of pop-punk.

In an interview with Kevan Kenney on Alt 92.3, Lavigne revealed that “Bite Me” is “super sassy and is about someone who wants a second chance but they f—-d up so royally they’re kinda not really worth your time and they realize after the fact that you had a really good thing going on, and you’re sort of the one that got away.” Fans of the singer certainly relate to that message.

With more new Avril Lavigne music on the way, fans are so excited for what is to come. Long live Avril Lavigne, the pop-punk icon we all know and love. Fans can stream “Bite Me” on all major music platforms.
