It looks like Tom Holland will be putting on his dancing shoes. The Spider-Man actor, 25, will be playing legendary singer and dancer Fred Astaire in Sony’s new biopic. This new film is still in the midst of development. Even the young actor hasn’t received the script.

“The script came in a week ago,” Holland told reporters in a short clip. “I haven’t read it yet; they haven’t given it to me.”

Holland was informed of the news after Spider-Man producer and former Sony chief Amy Pascal shared with GQ that she wanted Holland to play Astaire. According to Holland, she FaceTimed him about the news.

“She FaceTimed me earlier. I was in the bath,” Holland shared with the Associated Press. “And we had a lovely FaceTime, but I will be playing Fred Astaire.”

While the rest of the project is under wraps, Pascal knew she wanted Holland to be a part of it.

“There are very few actors working now who are versatile in the way that he is,” she told GQ last month. “And he’s the hardest-working person that I know.”

However, this isn’t Holland’s first time dabbling in dancing. In 2008-2010, Holland stepped foot on a London stage and played the title character in Billy Elliot the Musical. In addition, the British actor appeared on “Lip Sync Battle” in 2017 where he sang a mash-up of “Singin’ in the Rain” — from the 1962 Gene Kelly musical — and “Umbrella” by Rihanna.

This isn’t the only project focused on Fred Astaire that’s in the works. Jamie Bell and Margaret Qually will star in Amazon Studios’ new biopic film Fred & Ginger. Bell starred as Billy Elliot in the 2000 film. While fans wait for more details, Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17.
